Swatches- blog post #3

Swatches, swatches, and more swatches! What's not to LOVE?

Still being fairly new to indesign and all it has to offer, I find swatches to be beyond helpful when it comes to the layout and design.

In our most recent project of designing brochures, swatches will come in handy when i decide what color scheme I want to use. Take my first line of blue in the image attached as an example; I could use a dark blue for the font, the lowest opacity blue would be my text box color and the middle opacity blue would be the accent.

Using swatches prevents you from using 3 different blues that first of all don't look good together and second of all looks sloppily made.
I definitely think that I will use swatches for mediated comm projects and perhaps in future comm classes!

CLOUDS!

Nothing more relaxing than looking at clouds. This post is about the different types of images that you can work with.

The gif seems to be the one that stands out the most from the three.

Personally, I think jpeg files work the best for images of naturalistic things; whereas gifs would be better with images containing words or distinct shapes. A png is also extremely detailed with multiple shades of gray within the cloud.
